Has corona lowered the bar for hookups?: deflation of the dating economy
Usually, when there is an inflation in the economy, the prices of the goods skyrocket, meaning you need more "currency" to buy the goods. In contrary, in a deflating economy, you would get more "bang for your buck" if you will.
So what has covid-19 done for the dating economy? Well I'm no expert in neither economics or dating(ok maybe just a little bit), but I would say that resources and opportunities has become more scarce, which would mean that we are in a deflating dating economy.
It's kind of like when WW2 hit, and half the men were recruited into war, and in the end we were left with a lot more women than men. This would help the men in a dating economy.
On the other hand, imagine a club with 9 dudes for every 1 girl. In this scenario, it is much harder for the guys to get the one girl.
So now compare that to these days, when bars are closing at 10pm, responsible people are not coming out to party, people are wearing masks so you can't really tell who's pretty and who's not, and there's just simply less opportunities for dating in general. Or to say the least, it has drastically dropped "natural attractions" that arise from day to day life.
Now there's a famous quote, "one man's trash is another man's come up" which I think fits this situation very well. Due to girls missing out on their chances to hookup, and there simply being a lot more scarcity in terms of dating men, it is my hypothesis that this situation has lowered the bar for girls hooking up with you.
Sure, it has made it bloody hard to meet an attractive women in general (or at least to find them under their masks), but I think in terms of just "game" and what it takes to take the girl home, corona has made it easier to hook up with girls.
So there is always a silver lining to even this shitty situation after all.
